Michelle and Jesse grew up a block apart in the small town of Gage, Oklahoma. They were friends long before they started dating, but once they did we all knew they were going to be together forever. A year after high school they got married and moved to Alva. Jesse went to work on the Marcum Ranch with his grandfather, Frank, and Michelle finished up college at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, earning a Business Administration and an Accounting degree.

She worked with Avis, Jesse's grandma, keeping books for the ranch for many years learning all the ins and outs of ranch book keeping. Over the years and time spent together they became close and Avis shared gardening and cooking tips from the "original ranch wife".

Today Michelle is what keeps the ranch moving. She manages payroll, pays bills, manages inventory, and creates financial projections. Even the ranch hands recognize her contribution and call her Patrona, which means boss lady. She is full of knowledge when it comes to running a ranching business and is patient with the rest of us when we have endless questions.

She has done all of this while raising three little ranch hands that aren't so little anymore. Her youngest, Aimee, will be a Senior next year. And although the oldest two are college age they still are coming to moms kitchen for some of her amazing family ranch meals. No one knows how to take a pound of ground beef and make it more delicious than Michelle Chapman!

Ellis County Wildfires

Last week was full of all the emotions: fear, anxiety, humbleness at the power of fire and nature, gratitude for God's grace, and pride for the community in which we live.
